Lead Teacher

Full Time Lead Teacher for Infant/Toddler/Preschool in the Austin Area.

This position will begin between June 1 and July 1, 2017.Training will begin mid June for 2017-2018 school year. Summer positions are available for new school year employees.

The lead teacher is responsible for leading a group of infants, toddlers, or pre-school age children through daily activities. The lead teacher will lead curriculum, feeding or snack service, play, nap time, and ensure safety and supervision during each activity.The lead teacher should be patient, loving, and a strong communicator. The lead teacher is responsible for meeting state standards for licensed childcare centers, and direct supervision of assistant teachers.

Summary of Duties: 

  • Direct supervision of children ages infant, toddler, and preschool
  • Direct supervision of adults (assistant teachers)
  • Excellent communication with all customers
  • Ensure safety and supervision of all children in care


Minimum Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Minimum Standards for Child Care Centers
  • Knowledge of child development for ages infant, toddler, and preschool 
  • Effective teaching and behavior management skills
  • English fluency
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (paid training)
  • Criminal History Check
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs


Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • College coursework, training, and experience in a closely related field
  • Meet state requirements of a center director as described in Minimum Standards for Child Care Centers §746.1015 

Hours:  40 hours weekly between the program hours of 7:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.  

Pay Range: $12.40 - $13.80 starting. Pay rates depends upon experience, education, and program enrollment.
